In the 1920ies, the Friedrichstraße in Berlin was infamous and notorious, which is why it was called Spree-Chicago or Berlin-Chicago. With the musical “Chicago”, it seems that the entire Friedrichstraße, today known for its posh shops and apartments, is walking down memory lane.
In 1988 and 1999, the successful musical already drew the Berlin audience into its spell. Now, it’s returning for a third round. The original Broadway play was met with applause when it premiered in Berlin, receiving praise and appreciation from all sides. No wonder, Chicago even won six Tony Awards.
Those who appreciate glamour, beautiful women and excellent entertainment should definitely not miss out on Chicago, one of the most iconic musical plays in the history of the Broadway.
