Today it is almost impossible not to come across titles like Harry Potter, movies from Marvel, or of course, Star Wars if you pay attention to the entertainment world. The latter has seemingly managed to overcome any ceilings, being now involved in not only movies and TV-series, but also in video games, and countless franchise articles. Due to Star Wars’ huge universum consisting of movies, comics, over 220 books, and toys, the franchise is considered to be among the most commercially successful franchises of all time.

Wired author Adam Rogers puts it perfectly into perspective: “Chances are quite high that if you were fortunate and young enough to watch the first Star Wars movie when it came out, you’re probably not going to see the last one, because it’s a Forever-Franchise. Star Wars is its own genre. Like all genre, it can hold a million different kinds of artists and stories. They say ‘Buddha is what you do to it.’ And that’s Star Wars. It can be anything you want it to be.”

After “Star Wars: Episode VII”, it has been stated that at least three spin-offs are already being planned. And with the upcoming movie “Rogue One – A Star Wars Story”, we will be able to look forward to a new prequel coming into theaters this year.

“Rogue One” won’t be dependent on the stories and incidents of the current triology, though. The movie itself will focus on the collapse of the republic. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of desctruction and its tool for conquest.
