New York, 1981. The immigrant Abel Morales succeeded in rising to affluence in the fuel branch. Now he wants his company to expand. For this, he is intending to buy an oil terminal from another businessman. While, he pays 40% of the purchase price in cash, he promises to pay the rest in 30 days. In order to finish the deal, he decides to take a credit from the bank. However, huge troubles ensue after strangers raid his oil trucks. Other problems follow and it seems as if everything and everyone is standing in his way to success. Even the prosecutor is investigating Abel although he is in fact an honest and sincere businessman. Abel is about to lose everything he fought for. But he is a fighter and  won’t accept defeat without having done everything to get back on track.

A most violent year is an exciting thriller and a little sparkling star in the indie movie section, awarded with the Saturn Award 2015.
