Red eye shadow seems to scare us off because it can often appear as if you are ill or give the appearance of you suffering from a rash. But these problems are not particularly because of the color itself but mostly because the product was applied the wrong way. Believe it or not, there are actually ways which will make red eye shadow look great. With the following tricks, you  can even make your eyes appear fresh and awake, while incorporating red eye shadow into your eye makeup.

  1. Combine
For those who might think red eyeshadow alone is a little scary should try to combine it with other shades. Whether it’s silver, gold or just black: with shades like these it will create a beautiful contrast, which will tone down the red just a little. For example, apply a silver eye shadow to the inner corners of your eyes and blend it in with the red eye shadow, which should be placed in the outer corners of the eyes.
  2. Eyeliner
Maybe a red eye shadow on the entire eyelid seems a bit extreme. But for the minimalists among us, red eyeshadows can be perfectly used as an eyeliner. Just use an eyeliner brush and apply the bright color like you would with your eyeliner or apply it on top of a black liner.
  3. As a transition shade
If you feel like doing a smokey eye look with some rich black or brown shades, try a change and use a red eyeshadow to blend out the hard edges instead of a light brown or a similar neutral shade. A wine color is ideal for that step, because it is not too bright but still has that certain sex appeal.

LimeCrime is known for their crazy colors. The Venus eyeshadow palette mostly contains red eye shadows and is therefore ideal for those who want to experiment a little with the color.
