Most of the time we tend to forget about our feet although they do so much work for us! Here are some tips to keep your feet clean, healthy and beautiful because our feet will thank us if we start paying more attention to foot and nail care.

Wash your feet every day! Use soap or shower gel and warm water to remove dirt and sweat from your feet. Don’t forget about the areas between the toes and underneath the toe nails, because otherwise bacteria start growing, making your feet smell and perhaps result in other more serious complaints like infections. After that, use a clean towel to dry them since humidity attracts bacteria even more.

Walking a lot, wearing the wrong shoes and other factors result in dry, scaly skin on the bottom of your feet. Use a foot rasp or pumice to remove dead skin, or combine it with a foot scrub. You can make your own one by mixing 1 cup of slightly warmed honey, 1-2 tablespoons of milk, the juice of ½-1 whole orange and massage the paste onto your feet.

Pedicure is a must and can be quickly done. Trim your nails and, other than with finger nails, you should keep them in a straight shape. Otherwise they could get infected more easily or ingrown nails are caused. Once in a while you should also remove your cuticles. Use a softener to carefully remove it with a cotton bud or a small wooden stick from the drugstore.

Invest in good shoes! Wearing the right shoes and wearing less high heels or shoes that are too tight and too flat can help you retain your feet in a good shape and prevent injuries, calluses, infections, odour and more negative effects.
