What exactly does it take to actually land a date with a Hollywood star? After learning of the following event in the year 2011, I would say a healthy amount of courage, the watchful eyes of the media and the right timing. Sergeant Scott Moore was in Musa Qaleh when he filmed a 19 seconds video to invite Hollywood’s sweetheart Mila Kunis to last year’s Marine Corps Birthday Ball. Miraculously she said yes, but not until after the video went viral on YouTube, drawing the attention of the media as well as the public to the event.
At the time, she was in the middle of promoting her new movie “Friends with Benefits” with Justin Timberlake so she naturally had a fully booked schedule. Somehow she still found the time to attend the ball and look fabulous in a beautiful dress. On the phone, a couple of days prior, she told the Marine that she might be a little bit tired but that would be nothing a little bit of Vodka wouldn’t fix.
The Ball celebrates the Marine Corps history as well as the accomplishmentsand all the fallen marines who gave their lives to protect their country. Some feared that Kunis’ appearance would turn the event into a Red Carpet kind celebration. But instead, she managed to raise awareness and by attending, she helped people understand the cause behind it all.
