One of my all-time favourite summer hits is Lana Del Rey’s Summertime Sadness. Why? It’s an unbelievably great reflection of the inner strife people feel during the summer! Summer is one of the most beautiful times of the year, with many people enjoying themselves outdoors during this period – yet many others are miserable precisely because of this. The enforced happiness doesn’t make everybody happy, and many only realize what they actually miss during summer – when the world shines on in its enduringly charming way.

Del Rey’s utterly lovely and deep singing voice bears the spirit of long bygone eras, speaking of an amazingly dramatic story. It also perfectly matches up with this week’s book tip!

Summer is when all the beautiful greenery reawakes, and when sweetness and warmth drift through the air. I could always do with a little bit of summer melancholy then. Otherwise, I would feel way too good.
