Yu Amatsu is the designer of the label A Degree Fahrenheit, whose vision for the 2015 spring and summer season is a play on athleticism and carefree elegance. Where pure elegance with a touch of drama stood in the foreground, the features of the previous season have now been taken over by a contrastingly reserved nature. For the autumn and winter of 2014/15, elegant dresses and robes, wavy A-line coats and capes in black, white, grey and pastel blue stand in the spotlight. Exquisite tailoring, wide waist belts and fur muffs provide for a luxurious look.

But things have changed for the summer of 2015. This time, ensembles for men are also available, and they are more athletic and urban than their female counterparts. As with the previous collection, these are included in the shades black, white and grey. They are complemented by navy blue and appear, with the help of the tailoring and materials, completely different. Heavier wool, satin and fur are replaced by the lighter athletic materials, label prints and various silky fabrics. Even the waist belts have left the building, having been replaced by sleeves sewn at the hip and knotted together at the front. This results in a more casual look than one would get by tying his sweater around the hip. The men’s looks are mostly sporty, with a few exceptions such as an ensemble of a navy blue hoody, two diagonal, outward-extending zippers, a similarly navy blue, wide-cut sweat shorts and silvery sneakers with white piping.

This collection exudes nonchalance while still appearing thought out through its refined designs. Different outfits go in completely different directions. One involves a combination of a white shirt, a shiny silver suit with short pants, and again the silver sneakers with white piping. This is several times more elegant, fitting the path of nonchalant chic. For women, outfits such as the short-sleeved overall made of shiny silvery material and posessing previously described sleeve-details at the hip, tend more towards elegance. A combination of a grey, short-sleeved sweater and blue sweat shorts + drawcord is possibly the very epitome of casualness.

On the whole, this is an extraordinarily cool collection that everyone can feel great in. What do you think of A Degree Fahrenheit?
