Stacy Kranitz is an American photographer and movie maker. She already made a name for herself with her photography work of different sub cultures. For instance, renowned magazines like the Rolling Stone and Vice Magazine already published her work. When it comes to her photographs she doesn’t work with high glamour models or fashion icons. Her setting doesn’t look all that glam, either. Stacy concentrates on the underdogs like rednecks, skaters, punks, alternative subcultures in general and habitants of suburbs etcetera. That’s probably the reason why her pictures ooze authenticity, everything looks very natural similar to the results of a documentary.

If you take one look at the young skaters nursing their bloody knees and faces, the punks who are trying to act hardcore or at the redneck who is chilling in a lousy setting, then you’ll know that those people are real. But make no mistake, the photographs are individual pieces of art. They might not be beautiful in the common sense but you can’t deny the aesthetics inside the pictures. They almost seem like they’re full of life due to the realness of the main motifs. And what could be better than that?
