We started a new mini series last week in which we only talk about the so called „liquid gold“ in our world. Today I want to tell you all the good deeds one of the most popular and well-known oils of beauty industry can do for you: The Argan oil.
Argan oil is being extracted out of the seeds of the so called argan fruits. Those fruits are harvested only between July and September each year and exclusively in Morocco.
Next to its use in the kitchen and health care the “gold from morocco” also has unique effects for our beauty. The oil consists of almost 80% fatty acids that are essential in forming the very cells that build our hair and skin. One of those fatty acids is called linoleic acid. It’s known for providing our skin with the much needed elasticity and vitality. It also protects us from harmful environmental influences thus preventing hair breakage and wrinkling. The oil’s also an excellent source of vitamin E, which promotes hair growth and volume. It also helps with the regeneration of scarred or burnt skin. Carotenoids might as well be something you remember from previous posts of mine. Carotenoids and antioxidants also occur in the liquid gold and can help tighten the skin and protect it from UV rays. Basically, what I am saying is that argan oil can as well be regarded as the well of youth.

The fact that argan trees only grow in North Africa and that the process of gaining the precious oil can be incredible tedious, the prices are respectively high. This however, appears almost secondary considering all the benefits it has on both our hair and skin. When you decide to buy argan oil, please pay attention to whether the product has been treated or not. Native argan oil is predominately used in the cosmetic sense because it’s completely odorless and free of other substances which could irritate your skin.
