This week’s tutorials are inspired by the amazing makeup artist/drag queen Jeffree Star, who always creates unique and different looking styles with his makeup or his nails. He also launches his own makeup line called ‘Jeffree Star Cosmetics’ this Fall 2014, which is all about lipsticks.
For today’s look I recreated a manicure that was also inspired by Jeffree Star. Although the original look was a little bit more extreme, because Jeffree had huge stiletto nails and used real Swarovski crystals, I created a more wearable look that is easier to recreate, particularly if you have quare shaped nails like me.
Step 1: Apply a nude colored nail polish to all of your nails. I am using a color called ‘Palm Springs’ by American Apparel.
Step 2: Next glue on some silver rhine stones all over your ring finger until you are almost not able to see your nail anymore. You can find rhine stones in a big variety of colors for example on Ebay for an affordable price.
Step 3: Repeat that same step on your thumb nail, except you create a heart shape using the rhine stones on the lower part of your nail.
Step 4: Jeffree Star has the Louis Vuitton logos tattooed on each of his fingers, which is why I thought it would be fun to recreate this little detail. For this step you can use either a kajal pencil or an eyeliner.
