Michael Baumgarten is a photographer, who’s specialized in still life, accessories and promotional photography – with grand success!
He was born in 1971 in Germany and studied performing arts whilst working for the theatre. After a successful photo festival in Frankfurt, which was organized by Baumgarten, he packed up his things and moved at the age of 22 to Paris, where he began his career as a photo assistant. After having thoroughly studied photography by himself he beamed into existence as a photographer and was promptly hired for a multitude of magazines and design houses like Condé Nast Publications, Studio Edelkoort and Hermès.
Today he can count various types of labels like Chanel, Roberto Cavalli, Lacoste, Bvlgari and Louis Vuitton to his trusted clients. Michael Baumgarten’s photographs also were subjects of numerous covers of the British Vogue, Vogue Italia and Teen Vogue. He uses lively colors and his creative mind to put certain products into the limelight. Especially his work with animals showcasing accessories was very welcomed. I mean, seeing young beauty women present fashion everyday would be boring, wouldn’t it? He would combine objects that would normally never exist next to each other and turn it into the perfect match.
His work does not only show beautifully arranged accessories or beauty products, he makes sure that the viewer really sees the product in its full beauty, taking the beholder into his world.
