The international team of photographers called Mert & Marcus consists of Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. While Marcus gained his first experiences as an assistant to a photographer, Mert used to be a male model. The artistic team was born when the two felt their creative compatibility at some shootings. The first successful resonances resulted from the cooperation with the magazine Dazed and Confused. The two presented their photographs and they even were allowed to design the magazine cover immediately.
Since then, Mert & Marcus were in some well-known magazines and collaborations including Vogue USA, Vogue Italia, W Magazine and Numeros or the Love Magazine. For the latter, Mert & Marcus convinced none other than Kate Moss and Cara Delevingne, who posed in turquoise water for the SS13 season in front of the photographer’s cameras. All she wore were red lips and blood-red fingernails!
Yes, Mert & Marcus, they seem to have had them all: Lady Gaga, Scarlett Johansson, Lindsay Lohan, Linda Evangelista, Kylie Minogue, Björk, Gisele Bundchen, Victoria Beckham and Madonna. They were responsible for Madonna’s music video “Girl Gone Wild”in February 2012, which was part of Pop Queen’s album MDNA. Yet, everyone will talk about them in 2014 due to the September issue of W Magazine for which the new Queen of Pop Rihanna became an Amazon and was turned into a wild beast during the shooting.
