This year, the LondonEdge took place in Berlin for the first time. Our Readthetrieb team paid this fair a visit to satisfy our curiosity. In the hall of the club Adagio on the Potsdamer Platz, about 35 labels presented their collections focusing on alternative fashion including punk, gothic and retro styles.

Well, to my surprise, there wasn’t a long queue awaiting us in front of the entrance which is why the registration went quickly.

As a welcome gift, we received a Goodie Bag filled with a key pendant, sweat band, a t-shirt and more gifts. A big textile printing machine was standing next to the reception which immediately struck my eye. There, you could choose one of four LondonEdge motifs and get it printed on your shirt for free.

With a rather clear and manageable number of labels and a very distinct flair, the LondonEgde offered a kind of different world in comparison with the rest of the shows taking place within the framework of the Berlin Fashion Week. You could easily examine each single label there because there wasn’t a flood of visitors either. Having conversations with the exhibitors was very nice even though we certainly were not planning to buy anything from the brands.

Who was looking for trendy colors and a classic shirt was definitely out of place. Black was dominating the fair. Styles like punk, cyber, gothic or retro were preferred. I personally liked the pompous vintage looks, the dresses in the style of the 70ies and the petticoats in different variations.

All in all, paying this fair a visit was worth it.

Well, it’s different from the Premium or the Panorama – it’s edgy!
