contouring 3

Hello fellow beauty lovers.

Welcome back to another episode of Tip Tuesday here on Readthetrieb.com.

Today’s post will be all about contouring Asian face shapes. You may laugh but this step can be quite different for Asians than it is for – let’s say – Europeans.

But first things first, you must differentiate between contouring and bronzing. You could contour with a bronzer but the function of either step is entirely different. When you contour you want to subdue certain areas of your face, creating shadows all over the facial features to make it thinner and longer. When you bronze, you want to warm up your complexion and make it glow.

As for tools, you may use contouring pencils, powder, eye shadow, rouge or a darker foundation – everything really. You just need to try it out. I’ve been using all of the things mentioned above and I’ve finally found the perfect contouring shade for my complexion and face shape.

Since most Bronzing powders cast an orangey tone on my complexion I’ve been leaning towards taupe and grey shades, which is why I love my NYX Blush in “Taupe”. The color is not too intense, which means it won’t look unnatural on your skin.

I use the contouring brush by RealTechniques. But you may use a dense eye shadow brush to put on the product and then a blending brush to blend everything out.

You may also know the trick which requires you to form a kind of fish face to see the hollow areas of your cheeks. But I find this rather disadvantageous on Asian face shapes. What you can do is lightly open your mouth and you’ll see exactly where your contouring product has to be applied.

The ultimate trick, however, lies in the blending of the product with the rest of your makeup on your face. Blend, blend, blend! Make sure you count in enough time to blend the hell out of your face because the more you do it, the better and more natural it looks.

I hope I could give you some useful tips on your way to the perfect face.

Feel free to tune in tomorrow when I put on my saving cap to look out for amazing deals. 😉

Yours truly,

Lana
