A short while ago, Holly Somers graduated with honors from the London College for Fashion. She sets her focus on the details which make her designs become unique. Therefore, she works directly on the dress forms where she can easily create flowing lines. She uses more and more unconventional materials to shape her designs individually.

“Dimensional Transformation” is the title of her collection. Here, she concentrates on origami. Her inspiration is based on the fact that a 2D object can be formed into a 3D one in this Japanese art. For her collection she mainly uses woven fabrics which stay in contrast to very stretchable fabrics. Thereout, many controversial designs are created. It’s a mix of organic and flowing lines which are mainly developed by the draped and pleated jersey fabrics and the structured, static edges which are created by the resistant wool and similar materials.

Holly Somers’ collection impresses in both, the static and the organic level. The numerous widths which wound themselves on the bodies are as impressive as a small stairway on a colossal revers.
