Ohw? („who“ gesprochen) ist ein neues Label, gegründet von den zwei Schuhfreaks Stephen Grill und Hiro Chen. Ihre Vision war es, nicht nur ein modernes Design zu erschaffen, sondern eine Marke mit einer starken, eigenen Identität und Integrität aufzubauen. Mit einer 40.jährigen Erfahrung zum Thema Schuhe und einer Freundschaft, die schon 10 Jahre andauert, kann doch da nicht viel schiefgehen, oder?
Jeder Schuh hat ein paar von Hand gestickte Nähte, ist von höchster Qualität und wird am Ende von dem Inspektor unterzeichnet. Die Modelle zeichnen sich alle durch ihre klare und natürliche Erscheinung aus. Sie erinnern auf den ersten Blick an eine Mischung aus Sneaker und Mokassin und bringen dabei moderne Elemente wie Colorblocking in ein Retrodesign ein, was den besonderen Stil ausmacht.
Dabei gibt es Schuhe für jeden Bedarf, die ihren ursprünglichen Stil, ihre Wurzeln, beibehalten: ob lässiger Sportschuh, Wanderstiefel oder elegant. Man sieht den Schuhen sogleich die Qualität an und man weiß, dass sie nicht nach 3 Monaten des Tragens von den Füßen fallen werden. Das Leder wirkt außerordentlich gut verarbeitet und die Sohle ist dem Zweck aber auch dem ästhetischen Bild angepasst. Generell ist sie bei dem Design stilbildend und ohne ihre flexiblen und farbigen Sohlen wären die Schuhe von ohw? nicht dasselbe.
Das Farbfeld bewegt sich von Eierschale zu einem sanften Grau über verschiedene Schattierungen von Marineblau bis hin zu Schwarz. Auch belassenes Leder ist natürlich erhältlich, sowie einige Khaki-Varianten. Und wenn man wissen will wer bei seinem Schuh die Endkontrolle gemacht hat, dann sieht man entweder an der Sohle oder an der Ferse nach. Dort ist der Name desjenigen eingewebt.

Ohw?, actually pronounced „Who?“, is a new label founded by the two shoe freaks Stephen Grill and Hiro Chen. Their vision was not to only create modern designs but an entire label with a strong and distinctive identity. Blessed with 40 years of experiences in the field of shoes and a friendship which has been existent for 10 years, nothing can go wrong, can’t it?
Each shoe is provided with seams which were stitched by hand and of course they are of high quality. At the end of the production, the finished product is even examined by an inspector. The models are all makred by their clear and natural appearance. At first sight, they remind me of a combination of sneakers and moccasins, pimped with colorblocking elements in a retro design. The result is a very special look.
There is a shoe for all kinds of situations and tastes. And yet each pair of shoes keeps the essence of what defines the label. No matter whether it’s a comfortable sports shoe, hiking boots or an elegant model – the quality is just outstanding. I particularly like the flexible and colored soles, without which the shoes wouldn’t be Ohw? shoes.
The color palette ranges from egg or a soft grey to different nuances of navy blue and black. Uncolored leather is available as well as a khaki-colored alternative. And who wants to know who examined the shoe at the end of the production just has to take a look at the sole. The name of this person is woven into the material.
