Merve Bayindir is a fashion designer with an extraordinary background story. The milliner didn’t study design at first. The native Turk first studied psychology in Toronto. After having returned to Turkey, she started to work as an interior architect with her father. There are two reasons why she decided to become a milliner. First, there’s probably no other accessory that has such a striking character like a hat. One only wears a hat which really fits.

A hat becomes one’s personal jewel. I believe that Merve also wants to get closer to her clients and her creations because of her studies. Another factor is that Turkey doesn’t really have a wide range of hat fashion. As a native Turk I have to say that she’s right. In Turkey you will only find elder men who wear hats or some people with caps.

Her product range includes graphical designs with a lot of personality, wedding jewelry or eccentric art works. I really like her “The Painters” collection. Different hats that are dedicated to painters are created. Edward Munch’s model is for example kept in dark colors while the Vincent van Gogh model is embellished with a big sunflower. Also the wedding collection speaks volumes. I’m impressed by the black hat which has a veil – perfect for the special moment. All in all, Merve Bayindir’s designs should impress every fashion fan.
