Manning Cartell’s Frühling/Sommerkollektion 2014 nennt sich „Fate and Chance“, wobei die Hoffnung, die zwischen Schicksal und Chance herrscht, sofort herauszulesen ist.
Die Kollektion ist hauptsächlich schwarz-weiß. Die grafischen Prints scheinen die guten Momente in der Misere oder die schlechten im Glück darzustellen. Das eine kann ohne das andere nicht existieren – irgendwie Yin Yang mäßig. Die Hoffnung aber bildet dabei immer eine Möglichkeit. Zu hoffen ist immer möglich und ist oft alles, was bleibt.
Hier ist sie in einem saftigen Grün dargestellt und in die Kollektion mit eingeflochten. Sie ist in einem asymmetrischen Rock zu finden, welcher sich um die Hüften wickelt und links mit einem schrägen Reißverschluss geschlossen wird. Auch das passende, lockere Top erstrahlt in dem einladenden Grün einer langsam erwachenden Wiese.
Nicht nur Röcke, sondern auch Kleider sind asymmetrisch geschnitten. Wie ein Hosenbein führt das Kleid auf der rechten Seite das Bein entlang, während der schwarz-weiße Stoff auf der linken nicht einmal die wichtigsten Zonen bedeckt. Die Asymmetrie in der Kollektion steht dabei im Gegensatz zu den sonst sehr geradlinigen Drucken oder auch Schnitten.
Manning Cartell schafft mit seiner Frühling/Sommerkollektion eine mehr oder weniger freudige Atmosphäre – kommt natürlich immer darauf an, ob man nun Schwarz auf Weiß oder umgekehrt erkennt. Nichtsdestotrotz ist die Hoffnung nie verloren.

Manning Cartel’s Spring/Summer Collection 2014 is called “Fate and Chance”, where the Hope – that stands in between the fate and the chances – can be seen immediately.
The collection is primarily black and white. The graphic prints seem to be expressing the good and the bad moments of luck. One cannot be without the other – kind of like Ying Yang. However hope always offers an option. To hope is always possible and it often is the last thing to die.
Here hope is presented in a juice green dye and took part in the collection. It can be found on an asymmetrical skirt, which is wrapped around the thigh and closed with a diagonal zipper on the left hand side. The fitting, light top too shines in this convincing green dye of a slowly awakening meadow.
Not only do the skirts have this cut, but also the dresses. Like a pant leg one dress starts on the right leg and goes to the upper body, while the black and white cloth on the left side doesn’t even cover the most important parts of the wearer. The asymmetry in the collection here stands in contrast to the otherwise very linear cuts and prints.
With the Spring/Summer collection Manning Cartel creates a more or less joyful atmosphere – of course it always depends on whether or not you see black or white or the another way around. Never the less, hope is never lost.
