Basil Soda kommt eigentlich aus der Architektur. Doch hielt es ihn da nicht lange, seine Leidenschaft steckte nämlich in der Mode. In seinen Kollektionen versucht er nun, beide Genres einfließen zu lassen.
Um den statischen Aspekt der Architektur in ein Kleidungsstück übergehen zu lassen, muss es perfekt sitzen. Das erzielt der Designer, indem er selbst seine Kreationen direkt auf der Büste absteckt und jedem Kleidungsstück damit besondere Aufmerksamkeit schenkt, um aus jedem auch etwas Besonderes zu machen.
Den Ursprung in der Architektur erkennt man in einem olivgrünen Abendkleid sehr gut. Es ist trägerlos und besteht aus einem durchgehenden Oberteil, welches bis zu der Taille führt. Dort führt es bloß noch in einem Strich der Mitte entlang bis zum Boden. Auf dieser Linie wird das Wichtigste bedeckt, während links und rechts davon ein durchsichtiger Stoff eingearbeitet wurde. Dieser ist an den Seiten aufwändig bestickt. Es scheint, als würde ein Wolkenkratzer in der Mitte hinauf ragen.
Ein anderes Kleid erregt vor allem dadurch Aufmerksamkeit, dass es die Brüste komplett entblößt. Es ist weiß und macht erst den Eindruck, ein Hochzeitskleid zu sein. Es ist eng bis zur Taille, wo ein weiter Rockteil anfängt. Dieser ist bestickt und an der Grenze zwischen Rock und Oberteil scheint ein Adler seine Flügel auszubreiten. Das Oberteil ist wie ein Tank Top geschnitten und ganz einfach durchsichtig, als wäre es das Normalste der Welt.
Basil Soda spielt nicht bloß mit der Architektur als Inspirationsquelle, sondern auch mit Verdecken, Enthüllen und somit den Herzen mancher Männer.

Basil Soda was originally an architect. However, he didn’t stay long in the architecture branch because his real passion was devoted to fashion. In his collections, he tries to combine both forms of art.
In order to project the static aspect of architecture onto his fashion, his clothing has to have a perfect fit. This is achieved by reproducing his designs and ideas directly onto his dress form and giving each of his garments the necessary amount of attention and carefulness. This is the base of his doing – of his very special fashion.
The influence of architecture is well projected onto his olive green evening dress. It is strapless and consists of a top which is characterized by an unbroken and uninterrupted area up to the waist. From there on, a thin strip of fabric leads from the top to the bottom of the floor-length dress. Only the most intimate parts are covered by the stripe, while the rest of the skirt is covered by a transparent fabric which is lavishly embroidered. The stripe construction reminds of a skyscraper standing erect.
Another dress particularly draws attention because it completely reveals the chest. It is white, evoking similarities with a wedding dress. It consists of a tight torso part which is waist-length. The top then segues into the skirt part which is embroidered. Another wonderful detail is the eagle which seems to be spreading its wings between the top and the skirt. The top is cut like a tank top and provokingly transparent.
Basil Soda doesn’t only play with architecture, using it as his source of inspiration, he also knows how and when to utilize stylistic devices such as covering and revealing, which makes the hearts of many men leap for joy.
