Christopher Wicks, der Kopf hinter all dem was, Englishlaundry ausmacht, wurde in den 60er Jahren in Manchester geboren. Bereits früh begann er damit, Schuhe, Hemden und Gitarren zu skizzieren und zu zeichnen. Was als kindlicher Zeitvertreib begann, sollte später sein Lebenswerk werden. http://englishlaundry.com/
Bereits mit 22 bekam er Aufträge, Herrenbekleidung zu designen. Seine Liebe zu Streifen, Kragen-Formen, Perlmuttknöpfen und Französischen Manschetten begann damals und blieb ihm bis heute treu.

Seine Inspiration holt Wicks sich immer noch aus dem Lifestyle und der Musik Manchesters der 60er und 70er Jahre. Manchester ist seine Leidenschaft und die Seele seines Einfallsreichtums. Für diese Leidenschaft wurde Wicks 2010 von dem Guild of Cedars Sinai Medical Center zum “Mann des Jahres“ erklärt.
Und genau so sind die Kleidungsstücke auch designt. Jung und doch formell, casual und doch urban.
Vom Shirt bis zum Jackett, von der Hose bis zur Jacke, Schuhwerk, Brillen und Taschen, einfach alles ist vertreten! Hier kann sich Mann von Kopf bis Fuß einkleiden und einfach nichts falsch machen. Es gibt Kleidungsstücke für jede Gelegenheit, ob man nur mit seinen Jungs auf dem Flachdach nach der Arbeit ein paar Bier trinken will oder in einen Herrenclub geht. Ob man ein Rendezvous mit einer Schönheit hat oder ein Café trinken geht mit einer Kollegin, ob ungezwungene Firmenfeier oder Meeting…für jede Gelegenheit gibt es hier das Richtige.
Die Kleidung wirkt jung, voller Esprit, Farben und Muster spielen miteinander ohne zu verspielt zu wirken. Man sieht die Seele der 60er Jahre verpackt in unsere Moderne. Mann spürt fast die Musik, die durch die Kleidung zu fließen scheint … ein klein bisschen Rebellion im edlen Zwirn.

Christopher Wicks, born in Manchester in the sixties, is the mastermind behind everything which characterizes English Laundry. He began to sketch and draw shoes, shirts and guitars early in school. What started as a childish little hobby, should become his lifework and greatest achievement. http://englishlaundry.com/
When he was 22 years old, he already received orders to design men’s clothing. His love towards stripes, different collar types, nacre buttons and French shirt cuffs was born at that time and has not been leaving him to this day.

He still retrieves his inspiration from the lifestyle and the music, which represented the pillars of Manchester in the 60ies and 70ies. Manchester is his passion and the soul of his richness of ideas. Thanks to this passion, Wicks was crowned “ Man of the Year” by the Guild of Cedars Sinai Medical Center in 2010.

The clothing seems young, full of spirit; colors and patterns play with each other without appearing to playful. You can see the soul of the sixties packaged in the modern shapes. You can almost feel the music, which pervades the clothes… a bit of rebellion in the form of a noble garment.
