Timberland ist der 1973 eingetragene Markenname des international bekannten, US-amerikanischen Schuh- und Outdoor-Bedarfsherstellers „The Timberland Company“ aus Stratham, New Hampshire. http://www.timberland.com/
Die Unternehmensgeschichte lässt sich bis in das Jahr 1952 zurückverfolgen, als Nathan Schwartz Anteile einer Schuhfabrik kaufte und diese 1955 übernahm. Als in den 1960ern ein Verfahren entwickelt wurde, einen wasserdichten Alltagsschuh herzustellen, legte die Firma ihr Hauptaugenmerk auf das Produzieren von Outdoor-Schuhen. 1973 verkaufte sich sein Stiefel „Timberland“ so gut, dass er die ganze Firma nach ihm benannte (1978).
Bekannt ist Timberland besonders für ihre robusten Schnürlederstiefel, sowie für Mokassins und Bootsschuhe. Typisch mit eingebranntem Logo und Gummisohle, sind diese Schuhe nicht nur bei Wanderern und Sportlern beliebt, sie sind auch Teil der Hip-Hop Szene geworden und auch bei Bauarbeitern nicht wegzudenken.
Mit der neuen SS 14 Kollektion, besinnt sich Timberland auf ihre Wurzel. Handwerk und natürliche Materialen stehen im Vordergrund, gepaart mit modernen Details. Ökologisch und nachhaltig können Mann und Frau durch Waldlandschaften und Innenstädte marschieren.
„Doing well and doing good“ ist das Motto. Und so sehen die Schuhe auch aus! Sie sind der perfekte Mittelweg und sie verbinden Funktion mit Design, passen sich den Füßen und den manchmal widrigen Umständen, die man in Feld und Flur erwartet an und sehen trotzdem leger und schick aus. Die Farben sind natürlich und gedeckt, wobei auch das allgegenwärtige Blau vertreten ist, welches aber nicht knallig wirkt, sondern nur beruhigend. Timberland as we know today has been existing since 1972. The brand is part of the internationally known, American shoe and outdoor wear producer “The Timberland Company” from Stratham, New Hampshire. http://www.timberland.com/
The company history has its root in the year 1952, the year when Nathan Schwartz bought shares from a shoe factory, which he completely took over in 1955. When a method was developed to produce a waterproof casual shoe in the sixties, the company mainly focused on the production of outdoor shoes. In 1973, the “ Timberland” boots became a bestseller with such a striking success, that Schwartz decided to name the whole company after the boot model in 1978.
Timberland is particularly well-known for their robust lace-up leather boots as well as moccasins and boat shoes. The signature attribute of all Timberland shoes are the burned-in logo and the rubber sole. These shoes are not only popular among hikers and athletes; they somehow became a part of the hip hop scene as well, while building labors without timberlands are unimaginable, either.
With the new SS14 collection, Timberland goes back to its roots. Handicraft and natural materials are in the center, combined with modern details. Without a bad conscience towards Mother Nature, environmentally conscious women and men can march through wonderful forests and city landscapes in Timberland shoes.
